| You know how you come up with ideas to blog about during the day? I have been thinking about blogging and one idea was something about soup and calories... yes, it really was that lame of an idea.
But later today, I found an old friend's blog and started reading it. We met on the CSU summer project and John discipled him. He was talking about his worldview and how it has changed in the last 10 years or so. Quote: "I drifted over the course of several years first from conservative
evangelicalism to fringe evangelicalism, then to mainline christianity,
then to liberal christianity, then to agnosticism, then to atheism."
Truthfully I was shocked but mainly saddened at what I had read. I remembered going sharing with him in Estes Park. A couple came to Christ cause he shared with him.
I am sad. What does it take to go from an evangelical to an atheist? It sounds like his life is nice. he is married. he works, he reads a lot. I guess I am not on that path.
I would love to hear some comments here. Not consolation, more like... what gives?!

| Grabbed this one out of the business section as well. I only read the first chapter, but I definitely want to go back and read some more.

| John found this one for me. Hilarious! Various authors telling stories of how they macgyver'd something together. The best one was a potato bong.

| Then I grabbed Blogwild. I was hoping it would have some good guidelines for writing good/interesting/varied blogs. It just had how to set it up in typepad. Setting it up is easy for me. Figuring out what to write is harder.
I am interested in this because we are working on our recruiting site www.time2redefine.org and we are adding blogs about our work in the office.
What is really interesting to me is that while I was at BN, I saw two or three books on blogging. But when I typed Blog into the currently reading (ie Amazon) about 400 entries came up! wow.

| John and I just spent about three hours at Barnes and Noble reading. We really don't ever do that. I usually get bored and just wander around. This time though, I had a couple of books as well as some subjects I wanted to check out.
I started with "How to Work a Room". This was inspired by Dennis as he was reading through the community classes brochure at our house last month. He said, you know, a lot of staff should probably take this cause this is what we do at our jobs all day long. We work the room at a weekly meeting, at conferences, at seminars, etc... Then I realized, boy I really need to work on that too! I feel so awkward at conferences and meeting with students. I never know what to say or how to introduce myself or how to leave a conversation naturally.
I read the description of the seminar and saw it was based on a book. So why should I pay $50 to attend a seminar when I can read the book? So I did. It had some great tips to gear up for a social meeting and how to introduce yourself. Very simple suggestions. It talked about leaving the conversation, but not in a helpful way. So I was a little disappointed in that. I'll prolly have to read it again though to remember much more.
